Tiny Blue Tit Embroidery

After getting so much enjoyment from my embroidered orange necklace, I thought I’d have a go at a pair of earrings. I used a much lower gauge wire than for the orange, and only one strand of floss to allow the right level of detail on something so small.

What I found was that since it wasn’t a circle, I couldn’t cover the wire with radial stitches as I did for the orange. I had to cover the wire with tiny, tiny stitches all the way around, and boy was it tedious. I am really happy with the embroidery inside the wire, but ultimately I decided I couldn’t face making another one for a pair of earrings!

I may still turn it into a necklace, but I was also not very happy with the job I did cutting it out, so for now I’m chalking it up to an experiment and leaving it there. I had had a lot of ambitions for wire slip jewellery, but this made me realise how much more I enjoy embroidering hoops, so I’m focusing on that for the foreseeable!
